A produção científica em direitos humanos nos países do sul global: uma análise bibliométrica e cientométrica da Sur Revista Internacional de Direitos Humanos

Abstract

The following work aims the analysis of scientific production on Human Rights by the Global South, through a study of the authors and the content of the publications of the International Journal of Human Rights. As a research plan, the methodologies of bibliometric and scientometric analysis were adopted, as they provided mechanisms that allowed the scientific production of the Journal to be traced. The first stage of the analysis is intended to understand the socio-political context of the authors, regarding the variables: institutional affiliation, place of birth and place of institutional affiliation. It was pointed out that these institutions influence the Global Agenda for Human Rights and encourage their members to write in the light of the Agenda. Another substantial occurrence is the expressive representation of authors coming from Europe and the United States, signaling an influence of the Northern Hemisphere on the scientific production of the South. Content analysis was constructed from the indexing of the articles, adapted by Ribeiro (2016) according to literature of the area. Due to this change, it is also evident the need to rethink the controlled vocabulary systems of the area, to contemplate terms related to contemporary themes. The results of the analysis of subjects show that the most debated topic deals with issues related to the Third Dimension, characterized by Collective Transindividual Rights - listed by refugee groups, women, children, LGBT, handicapped, ethnic and indigenous peoples. The second most present theme belongs to the Second Dimension and addresses issues of Justiciability of Rights - related by the Effectiveness of International Jurisdiction and Internationalization of Human Rights. Also identified were subjects less evidenced in the Journal, such as the Right to Development and the Environment. This is a critical point of the Review, as they are central themes of the new Global Agenda, which are under wide discussion in the UN climate forums.
