| dc.description.abstract | Em 15 de junho de 2019, um relato de caso apareceu na edição online do International Journal of Infectious Diseases (IJID) por Bernheim et al., 2019. No relatório, os autores descreveram o manejo de um caso de ceratite causada por Pythium insidiosum em um homem da Espanha. O diagnóstico foi feito por meio de metodologias moleculares, mas nenhuma sequência de DNA foi depositada no GenBank. O isolamento de “um grande micélio” em Brain-Heart-Infusion (BHI) foi mencionado, mas o isolado não foi depositado em uma coleção de cultura. Embora uma biópsia ocular usando primers pan-fúngicos tenha identificado o organismo no tecido biopsiado como P. insidiosum, não havia uma descrição de como o isolado recuperado do BHI foi finalmente identificado como P. insidiosum. | |

| local.description.resumo | On June 15 2019, a case report appeared in the online edition of International Journal of Infectious Diseases (IJID) by Bernheim et al., 2019. In the report, the authors described the management of a keratitis case caused by Pythium insidiosum in a man from Spain. The diagnosis was made through molecular methodologies, but no DNA sequences were deposited at GenBank. The isolation of “a large mycelium” on Brain-Heart-Infusion (BHI) was mentioned, but the isolate was not deposited at a culture collection. Although an eye biopsy using pan-fungal primers identified the organism in the biopsied tissue as P. insidiosum, there was not a description on how the isolate recovered from BHI was finally identified as P. insidiosum. | |
