| dc.description.abstract | The present survey of Lucio Cardoso’s novel, Crônica da casa assassinada, seeks to analyze the issue of the tragic, its limits and unfolding in the period of Modernism. The context of Brazilian rural patriarchy decay is also investigated. In comparative perspective, the essay attempts to approach, critically, the Cardoso’s novel of one of Carlos Drummond de Andrade poems and the works of a brazilian visual artist, Farnese de Andrade. All of the works here investigated have in common the theme of family history and their ruin, in the country side of Minas Gerais. It is also observed the context of “house decay”, a reflex of the family decay. | |
