O impacto dos estudos de Magda Soares no campo do letramento digital

Abstract

Magda Soares had a great impact on studies related to literacy, reading and writing in digital media, given the impact of her only article on the subject, published in 2002, entitled New Reading and Writing Practices: Literacy in Cyberculture. According to data from the author’s Google Scholar profile, from 2005 to 2023, the article has 1,532 citations. It should be noted that, in the profile available for verification of citation metrics, this article is ranked fourth in the ranking of publications by Magda Soares. In this sense, this article aims to reflect on the contributions of Magda Soares to the definition of digital literacy, as well as to map the repercussion of the article New Reading and Writing Practices: Literacy in Cyberculture in the field of studies on digital literacy. Data were analyzed based on the metrics: state, country, year of publication, area of knowledge and publisher. The analysis carried out demonstrates the relevance of the researcher, in the field of studies on digital literacy in Brazil, and also the impact of her work in other areas of knowledge that intersect with the theme of digital technology in education.
