Imagens do nazismo e da "Shoah" em A guerra no Bom Fim

Abstract

This study focuses on images of Nazism and Shoah in the novel A guerra no Bom Fim (1972; War in Bom Fim) by Moacyr Scliar. Using the irony, the fantastic and the unusual, the writer creates a miniature universe in order to, from the protagonist's childlike gaze, present the violence and dilemmas of adults in an overwhelming way. In this novel, the district of Bom Fim in the city of Porto Alegre takes on the shape of “schtetl”, the small Jewish village in Eastern Europe. It is the fantasy world of “King Joel”, in which Chagallian figures hang in the air, and in whose streets awar is fought. In it, the Second World War is present with all its destructive power, even if we look at it through the fantasy of a group of children.
