A contribuição da nova biblioteconomia de lankes para decolonializar o conhecimento

Abstract

Abstract: This work presents the contribution of the perspective conceived by R. David Lankes with the publication of the Atlas of the New Librarianship, in 2011 - the New Librarianship -, to decolonialize knowledge. The construction of this work had as a principle for analysis the mission of the librarian, which is the basis of the New Librarianship,’s perpective, the presentation and conceptualization of this concept and coloniality and decoloniality concepts. Lankes' New Librarianship brings reflection on the importance of empowering communities through the creation of knowledge and positions the librarian as an active subject in the participation of this collective construction. Thus, the perspective contributes to the decoloniality of knowledge by positioning the community as the true informational input beyond the boundaries of the book as an informational record of knowledge. Knowledge is found in every member of the community and it is the librarian's role to give voice to that knowledge. Keywords: Knowledge construction; David Lankes; Decoloniality; New Librarianship.
