Diálogos entre a linguística, a educação e a antropologia na produção de materiais de alfabetização na língua sanöma

Abstract

The preparation of literacy materials in indigenous languages is a complex process that requires the combination of linguistic, anthropological and educational concepts. This paper reports a collaboration between linguists and anthropologists during the preparation of an early literacy book in the Sanöma language (Yanomami). We discuss how ideas from cognitive linguistics can dialogue with ethnographic research to craft pedagogical approaches that are in sync with the current uses of the language and to establish, at the same time, a mechanism to scientifically describe the insertion of written language in indigenous communities.
