A produção científica sobre a ditadura militar no Brasil: um olhar pelo campo da história

Abstract

The Brazilian Military Dictatorship (1964 - 1985) was a period marked by violence, disrespect to the basic principles of human rights, and censorship of information. After the re-democratization, it became urgent to understand this historical period. This article aims to research the scientific production that has as its theme the Military Dictatorship, analyzing the theses and dissertations of the Graduate Program in Social History of the University of São Paulo, published between 2000 and 2019. Specifically, it intends to I) Define the chronology of the political-legal mechanisms of transitional justice; II) Characterize the scientific production from its production occurrence, and III) Analyze the frequency of this production using the defined chronology as a reference table. For data collection, a search was performed in the Brazilian Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations, recovering 83 documents, between theses and dissertations that meet the criteria of the theme investigated and the time frame. The methodology has qualitative logic, however, will use a combination of qualitative and quantitative techniques, to make the research more robust. Analyzing the occurrence of production, there was correspondence between the periods of higher productivity with important milestones of Brazilian transitional justice. It was contacted that the mechanisms of transitional justice are not determinant to produce theses and dissertations, but may influence it, as they offer new information sources.
