Uma análise da encíclica papal fratelli tutti sob a perspectiva teórico-metodológica da argumentação no discurso de Amossy

Abstract

In this paper, we analyze the Fratelli Tutti encyclical – signed by pope Francis and published in 2020 – according to the theoretical framework of Argumentation in Discourse by Amossy. For the study of the corpus, we distinguish and relate the Holy See and the Vatican, suggesting the concept of Vatican-ecclesia, as well as sketching reflections on papal infallibility and constituent discourse. Our assessment intends to compose a broad research agenda in the analysis of the papal discourse. We conclude that the encyclical’s persuasive project would be which of the intensification of doctrinal beliefs, using markedly: the appeal to the thesis of love, which does not seem to undermine the logos, but emphasizes the inseparability between this proof, the papal image in discourse and pathos; the discursive effects arising from the assimilation between constituent discourse and papal infallibility; the shift of enunciative responsibility to the pope.
