Abstract: | With the increase in the volume of tailings generated in the iron ore beneficiation process and stimulated by the growing mining of deposits with less metallic content, the interest in studying new methods to treat tailings in the beneficiation process has been aroused. Motivated by the increased need to no longer use tailings dams in mining and with the premise of recovering water in the process, the idea of using a filter press system in a large mining company in the central region of Minas Gerais was implemented. But due to the scale, still unprecedented in Brazil and in the world for iron ore, engineering problems arose in the assembled pilot, which had to be resolved. One of these problems is the fatigue break (early), which arose along the longitudinal beams after loading by hydraulic locking force in the performance tests. Since the beams are important structural elements of the equipment, they needed to be analyzed to identify the root cause based on the analysis of the computational tool (CAE / MEF), due to the complexity of the project and the possible solutions, being the objective of this Course Conclusion work Specialization. |
