Aspectos terminológicos da ciência da informação: a função documentária em jogo

Abstract

It discourses about some terminological aspects in Information Science, evidenced between lan guages, but mainly in its transposition to Brazil, considering the specificity of the documentary function. In order to do so, texts about the documentary terminology are used, starting from those that indicate the initial terminological choices in the field, and proceeding until those that seek to conceptualise the documentary function. It deals with the use of the adjectives documental and documentário, listing their variation among some languages. In the case of Brazil, elements of the course of construction of this field terminology facet are presented. It concludes by emphasising the need for recognition of the terms and concepts that singularise the field, regarding the actions about documents focused on the communication of information by specific communities.
