A implantação da coleta seletiva no município de Contagem: mobilização social, educação ambiental e participação dos catadores

Abstract

The present work seeks to present actions of environmental education, social mobilization and participation of the collectors in the implementation of the selective garbage collection, having as a case study the city of Contagem. The aim is to evaluate the actions that are capable of promoting the involvement of public power and the population city care, as well as the challenges and possibilities of implementing selective collection. The selective garbage collection is done in Contagem in the system door to door (residential), condominiums, large waste generators, public offices and commercial corridors. The difficulties caused by the exhaustion of the sanitary landfill are presented. It was concluded that the selective collection wast waste for recycling is an initiative that brings great benefits to the environment and should be a priority in the administration of municipalities. The actions of environmental and social mobilization need a continuous programming and associated with these measures, it is necessary that the services offered be regularly diagnosed. The suggestion is that the diagnostic measures be broad and that when planning the expansion of the program, that is carried out in advance with the training of environmental agents, that can encourage the users to clarify their doubts regarding the selective collection and the environmental questions, of and operational safety.
