Abstract: | This paper aims to facilitate the accession of illiterate patients with diabetes mellitus to food and nutritional treatment through the intervention project that consists of implanting an illustrative booklet containing the dietary plan, nutritional recommendations and substitution list. From the work of the NASF (Center for Family Health Support) from the city of Lajedão / BA, to begin the process of group training to work with people with diabetes patients we found that there was a large number of these patients who could not read or write, the fact of not knowing how to read or write makes nutritional education work will be compromised, since illiteracy limits the patients after only oral recommendations, but not always memory can absorb everything that was recommended in the meetings these patients with health professionals. The ease of connecting the figures to food will cause the illiterate patients are able to follow the plan illustrated without the aid of another person, following the recommendations properly and so we expect a better quality of life and glycemic control of these subjects. |
