Rede social Youtube: o uso da plataforma por alunos em fase de preparação para o ENEM – um estudo de caso

Abstract

YouTube has stood out as the second largest search engine for information in the world. The platform seeks to provide a space in which the user can create and share videos on various subjects, and free of charge, for anyone who wants to access from anywhere, as long as they have a device that allows access to the internet. From the outskirts, students from public schools seek to prepare for the National High School Exam (ENEM), using the platform, which provides free content from teachers and companies in the education area on channels hosted on it. This approach between cyberspace and traditional education in peripheral regions is the object of this research. Through the application of a semi-structured questionnaire that was completed in the classroom for students who were going to take the ENEM and used content from the YouTube platform as a didactic resource, it was possible to understand the motivations, perceptions, and methodologies used by them in this relationship. It was also possible, as a result, to infer beyond the need for the democratization of the internet and access to information, the potentialities that the free offer of this input would reveal to students from such communities. The research brings data that point to the need for an urgent action by the State with regard to education that still remains structured in the form of a model that is too conventional and that today is inadequate to meet the needs of students who they are surrounded by technologies, even if they do not have access to the internet at home, as shown by the survey data.
