Desenvolvimento de atividades investigativas para a conscientização da sustentabilidade no contexto escolar

Abstract

Education is the key to a better world tomorrow, because only it has the ability to put values and habits of changes in the individual and in society. Based on this concept that it was implemented sustainability as cross-cutting theme in the National Curriculum Parameters (PCNs ) , to be worked in elementary schoolA matter of such importance should be presented to the student impactful way to mobilize a change of habits and values. Although the subject of sustainability is already in place for almost two decades, it is well known and already well publicized that , every year , activities that cause negative impacts to the environment have grown enough.Therefore , we see the need to pass on the idea of sustainability with a more efficient teaching- learning methodology . Studies have proven that through the use of investigative experimental activities , the teacher can encourage students to participate effectively in the knowledge construction process. Thus, the objective was to promote awareness of sustainability in schools, through investigative experimental activities . This is an observational and descriptive study . The study included 45 students 9th grade of elementary education at a state school in the city of San Francisco in the north of Minas Gerais The activities were carried out during science classes .Initially , we applied a questionnaire in order to know a little the target group and prior knowledge about the subject. Subsequently, has produced a business plan with an investigative character on the theme of sustainability. During the whole process was recorded in " diary " speeches , comments and observations at different times . The intervention of the applicator teacher enabled discuss environmental issues within the school and the city , as well as instigating on the environmental reality of the community where they liveAmong the results achieved, the most important was the students' initiative to seek something that promotes sustainability in the problems observed in society as it allowed them to even investigate and seek the solution , which was not unheard of in science nor technology but got awareness and awareness seeing the problems more closely . The ideas were several, among them the most important were the recycling of paper, the use of shopping bags, soap production with saturated fats , the cultural awakening of cultivating medicinal plants and trees of the neighborhoods .It was concluded that the students conducted with good autonomy and performance group discussions and to raise hypotheses and that the investigative activity plan applied in this study has contributed to promoting awareness of the sustainability issue.
