Fissurar o espaço público

Abstract

This research investigates the actions and reactions of agents in the public space, aiming to understand their potential for change in the denial of pre-configured alienating situations and in the consequent search for actions that are not subjugated to coercive practices of freedom of speech. The main objective is to understand to what extent the unveiling of agents, their actions and reactions in the public space can contribute to the resumption of the street as a place of coexistence with conflicts - in fact, the fight against the different has been increasingly potentiated in the virtual environment and has been affected the role of public space as the promoter of the encounter, par excellence, of urban life. The theoretical and empirical propositions of the research were built from the author's personal and professional experiences and served as a basis for an analysis methodology that, based on the Content Analysis Method (Laurence Bardin), structured a search of actions' narratives that occurred in public spaces in the central area of Belo Horizonte, since 2008. In these narratives were identified: the agents, the way in which others (re)acted to their actions and the results of these interactions, aiming to find in this discursive structure the characteristics listed as components of a fissure in the public space: refusal-and-creation, resilience and connectivity. The final observation is that, in Belo Horizonte, since 2008, there has been an open fissure – whose highlight is the understanding that agents have about the rules of the “game that is played”: legislation, legal loopholes and channels to be activated - in the occupation of public space. Contrasting with the challenges of thinking about the public space in a post (?) pandemic context - which potentiated a bigger estrangement of the "other" and a strengthening of virtual relationships -, the research ends with suggestions of contributions that may come from the academic area, in an incessant work of search for the connectivity of new ideas.
