Abstract: | This article describes the experience of using integrative and complementary practices (ICPs) with workers at a public university hospital in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brazil. Free therapeutic care for workers took place in the period from October 2018 to April 2019, and it was provided by volunteer practitioners in rooms made available at an outpatient clinic in the hospital. The following therapies were offered: a) Aromatherapy; b) Auriculotherapy; c) Homeopathy; d) Reiki; e) Tai Chi Chuan; and f) Tui Na. Relying on the participation of seven volunteers, 456 vacancies were offered during the period evaluated, and 568 appointments were made (with 405 actual therapeutic practices). Given the experience, it was found that we need to: a) strengthen the means of communication in order to promote greater adherence to therapeutic care; b) improve workers’ perception; and c) sensitize leaders to mobilize and inspire workers’ participation in programs for quality of working life (QWL) in health sector organizations. |
