| Abstract: | Esta pesquisa visa apresentar a atuação da Organização da Sociedade Civil de Interesse Público (OSCIP) Defender na cidade de Santo Ângelo-RS. Voltadas a proteção do patrimônio histórico existente na cidade, as ações da entidade estimularam a constituição de uma agenda nas esferas governamentais a nível municipal e estadual, onde estiveram em foco o reconhecimento e a valorização do patrimônio e história desta comunidade, empoderando-os politicamente enquanto agentes sociais. Usou-se como subsídio principal do trabalho pesquisa em arquivos da entidade, arquivos pessoais, bibliografias referentes à sociedade civil e participação além de entrevistas com atores envolvidos nestes processos os quais são expostos para maior compreensão do caso estudado. Procurou-se identificar as estratégias de atuação da entidade bem como articulações com outras entidades civis e públicas e seus respectivos resultados no foco de atuação da OSCIP. | Abstract: | This research wants to show the performance from the “Organização da Sociedade Civil de
Interesse Público” (OSCIP) Defender in Santo Ângelo city, RS. Toward protect the historic heritage
that exists in the city, the actions from the entity stimulated the constitution from the schedule in the
governmental high places to the level municipal and state, where was on focus the recognition and
valorization about the heritage and the history from this community, putting them politically while social
agents. Was used as mainly subsidy from this research to search in entity’s archives, personal’s
archives, bibliographies referring to the civil society and participation besides interviews with actors
involved on these processes whereat are exposed to have a better understanding about this study.
