| Abstract: | Esta dissertação propõe verificar e esclarecer os principais mecanismos de corrosão da carcaça metálica em regeneradores industriais tipo cowpers, amplamente utilizados na indústria siderúrgica, com base em um estudo de caso de duas iniciativas de investigação realizadas. Os mecanismos de corrosão nas partes superiores destes componentes, internamente, estão associados à formação de siderita (FeCO3), ácido nítrico, fragilização por hidrogênio e enxofre, o que também favorece a corrosão sob tensão e a ocorrência de trincas. Diferentes mecanismos de corrosão podem estar associados nas partes inferiores dos regeneradores, e podem ser acelerados pela presença de condensado de gás de combustão e enxofre. Ações práticas foram propostas para a correta medição e controle das boas condições de operação dos regeneradores. |
| Abstract: | This dissertation proposes to verify and clarify the main mechanisms of corrosion of the metallic case in hot stoves (or just cowpers, type industrial regenerators), widely used in the ironmaking industry, based on a case study of two research initiatives carried out. The corrosion mechanisms in the upper parts of these components, internally, are associated with the formation of siderite (FeCO3), nitric acid, hydrogen embrittlement and sulfur, which also favors stress corrosion and the occurrence of cracks. Different corrosion mechanisms can be associated in the lower parts of the regenerators and can be accelerated by the presence of flue gas condensate and sulfur. Practical actions were proposed for the correct measurement and control of the good operating conditions of the hot stoves. |
