| Abstract: | This study investigated the associations of multidimensional perfectionism with positive affect and negative outcomes (affect and Obsessive–Compulsive Personality Disorder [OCPD] pathological traits) through network analysis. The sample consisted of 604 Brazilian adults aged 18–74 years. The network analysis showed that perfectionistic concerns (PC) is strongly and positively associated with negative outcomes, while perfectionistic strivings (PS) maintain positive associations with positive affect, but not negative affect. Negative affect seems to operate as a bridge between perfectionism and OCPD pathological traits, raising crucial questions about the antecedent and consequential role of affect for understanding perfectionism's development and the traits observed in individuals with OCPD. We discuss the limitations and strengths of the study. |
| Abstract: | Este artigo investigou as associações do perfeccionismo multidimensional com afeto positivo e resultados negativos (afeto e traços patológicos do Transtorno da Personalidade Obsessivo-Compulsiva [OCPD]) por meio de análise de rede. A amostra foi composta por 604 adultos brasileiros com idade entre 18 e 74 anos. A análise de rede mostrou que as preocupações perfeccionistas (CP) estão forte e positivamente associadas a resultados negativos, enquanto os esforços perfeccionistas (PS) mantêm associações positivas com afeto positivo, mas não com afeto negativo. O afeto negativo parece operar como uma ponte entre o perfeccionismo e os traços patológicos do OCPD, levantando questões cruciais sobre o papel antecedente e consequente do afeto para a compreensão do desenvolvimento do perfeccionismo e dos traços observados em indivíduos com OCPD. Discutimos as limitações e pontos fortes do estudo. |
