Título: Rethinking outdoor, experiential and informal education: beyond the confines

Resumen: The relationship between individuals and nature should not be considered strictly formal. There are elements that transcend any attempt at labelling experiences in environmental education including aesthetics, sensitivity and contemplation, i.e. the subjectivities arising from simply being with nature. Acknowledging these subjectivities permits an escape from the duality embedded in the western gaze, which separates culture and nature, and comes closer to the indigenous gaze by allowing ourselves be carried away in order to re-approximate to the nature that we are made of. Allowing the body to feel itself as part of an environment, without separations or divisions, becomes essential in the discussion of nature, which means going beyond the educational experience as the sole purpose within itself. Indigenous experiences in this regard not only confront us, in an ideological sense, with the dualities constructed by the separation of elements in our society, but such experiences also call into question Westernised literature on nature (Castro, Citation2017). According to Castro (Citation2017), we cannot think like the indigenous people; we can at most think with them.
