Abstract: | In this study, we present the ongoing doctoral research developed at the UFMG School of Music, which deals with the binomial Piano Pedagogy and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The objective is to investigate the consequences of music education, having the piano as musicalization instrument, in the musical and in the social interaction development of autistic children from 3 to 5 years old. The children will receive individual e weekly piano lessons for six months. A mixed type research method will be used: the quantitative data - application of the scales IMTAP (BAXTER et al., 2007), ABFW/Pragmatics Test (FERNANDES et al., 2014) and DEMUCA Scale (FREIRE et al., 2019); and the qualitative data - Focus Group carried out with participating children’s parents. The quantitative treated statistically and will be crossed with the Focus Group data. It is expected to be able to identify the possible benefits that the piano, used as a musicalization instrument, can bring to autistic children. |
