Gestão ambiental em foco: uma abordagem didática e investigativa para a alfabetização científica no ensino médio

Abstract

This work was developed with 1st year high school students at Escola Estadual Silvo Lobo in the municipality of Betim (MG), through an investigative approach and using active methodologies, in favor of developing scientific literacy. The students' attention was drawn to the importance of environmental education and management in our daily lives, our community, our school and at work, the main focuses of the work. The didactic sequence was developed in six stages that involved dialogues, questions and hypothesis raising. The stages built paths that led students to scientific literacy and the perception of their capabilities for action and intervention in the management of the environmental quality that surrounds them. The first stage, brain storm, was the initial provocation, a moment of interaction, reflection and probing of the students' prior knowledge. In the second stage, knowing terms, we work on the theoretical basis, expanding fundamental concepts and preparing students for the visit to the Essencis Landfill in Betim-MG. The third stage, visiting the landfill, was one of the strongest educational points of this project. Contact with practical environmental management certainly contributed to establishing the relationship between waste care and the unique health of the region. The themes One Health and Serra do Curral (fourth stage), worked on in an investigative manner, provided greater autonomy to students, with the teacher simply being a learning tutor. The Simulated Jury, the fifth stage, promoted an exciting discussion about mining management in Serra do Curral and the positive and negative impacts inherent to the enterprise. In the last stage, the challenge given to the students was to create a fictitious company and test their performance as “managers for a day”. This work promoted, in a gradual and playful way, the construction of responsibility for environmental management and the appreciation of ecosystem health.
