The patient had been previously diag nosed with leprosy, cataract, hypertension, and glaucoma and had been regularly taking 100 mg prednisone per day for 18 months for the treatment of leprosy reaction. The provisional diagnosis was neoplasm of mesenchymal origin, and incisional biopsy was per formed. Diagnosis of Kaposi sarcoma was made.Arapid serologic test for the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and a fourth generation test for HIV were performed; both tests yielded negative results.
