Other Titles: | Research on Antarctic soils: actors, themes and landscapes |
Abstract: | This scientometric research analyzed 553 publications covering the period from 1958 to 2021 in order to identify the main countries, themes, and study sites of Antarctic soils, recognized as reliable indicators of climate change on the white continent. The data were obtained from the Web of Science and Scopus databases and analyzed through co-authorship networks, keywords, and thematic maps. The analysis revealed high productivity, internationalization, collaboration, and citation in the field, with the USA, New Zealand, Brazil, Spain, and Russia leading. The research focused on the domains of geosciences, biology, and human-environment relations, mainly addressing topics such as geochemistry, permafrost monitoring, bioremediation, bioprospecting, and molecular biology. The Antarctic Peninsula and the Dry Valleys of the Transantarctic Mountains were the most studied regions. |
