| Abstract: | Este trabalho tem como objetivo analisar o fenômeno da ansiedade na contemporaneidade a partir das proposições e pesquisas realizadas pelo psicoterapeuta existencial Rollo May. As contribuições deste psicoterapeuta norte- americano são colocadas em contato com a análise da modernidade do filósofo Marshal Berman, tecendo considerações sobre a relação entre ansiedade e buscamos compreender o fenômeno da ansiedade a partir da confluência entre fatores sociais e culturais. Ressalta-se a conexão entre o fenômeno da ansiedade e o estabelecimento das relações sociais, econômicas e culturais características do modo de vida do ser humano moderno. May define a ansiedade como elemento constituinte da existência. Diferencia essa ansiedade (saudável) da patológica, quando há comprometimento no modo de existir do sujeito. A ansiedade patológica ocorre quando há um conflito intrapsíquico que atinge a essência da personalidade, no qual o indivíduo encontra-se entre a possibilidade de ser e a possibilidade de não-ser, afastando-se de sua capacidade criativa e de seu próprio eu. |
| Abstract: | This work aims to analyze the phenomenon of anxiety in contemporaneity from the propositions and research carried out by the existential psychotherapist Rollo May. The contributions of this American psychotherapist are put in contact with the analysis of the modernity of the philosopher Marshal Berman, weaving considerations about the relationship between anxiety and social and cultural factors. The connection between the phenomenon of anxiety and the establishment of social, economic and cultural relations characteristic of the way of life of the modern human being is emphasized. May defines anxiety as a constituent element of existence. He differentiates this (healthy) anxiety from the pathological one, when there is impairment in the subject's way of existing. Pathological anxiety occurs when there is an intrapsychic conflict that affects the essence of personality, in which the individual lies between the possibility of being and the possibility of non-being, moving away from his creative capacity and from his own self. |
