Automutilação entre os adolescentes sob a ótica da fenomenologia existencial

Abstract

This work deals with the issue of self-mutilation among adolescents in contemporary times from an existential phenomenological point of view. The significant number of self-mutilations that have reached the fundamental schools where the author works, aroused a concern and the need to elaborate a bibliographical study on the subject. Self-mutilation is a phenomenon that has increased considerably in contemporary times in different sociocultural contexts. Epidemiological data and technical reports have shown the relevance of the theme and the significant increase in cases. The scientific reference for the research is existential phenomenology, since it seeks to understand the uniqueness of each individual despite the plurality of self-mutilation. The work was structured in three chapters. Starting with the presentation of existence that understands man as a being in the world, a unique and singular being that is constituted in the relationship with the world, and is constituted as an opening with possibilities of being in the world with others. From this conception of existence, this perspective will understand adolescence as a human condition and unique growth, despite the plurality of the world, as well as understanding the phenomenon of self-mutilation from the essence of the act for each adolescent who self-mutilates, performing a dialogic work with the teenager in an attempt to help the subject recognize his restrictions, as well as his possibilities in building himself and his existence.
