Uso futuro de áreas mineradas e o meio urbano: o caso de Águas Claras

Abstract

The issue of future use of the mining activity has become, nowadays, object ofdiscussion and demands an interdisciplinary view. The comprehension about theimportance in this stage, inside the mine planning process, has raised a newperspective about the construction of new relationships and possibilities about theregional development, mainly if considered the urban regions. The present work triedto create a bases for reflection about this subject, presenting, as a foundation, thesurvey of the main legal bases concerning the mining and environmental laws, theproduction cycle of mining, the state of art about the future use of the mined areas,as well as a reflection about the interfaces that the activity has with the territory. Inthis way, this study aims to comprehend the relationships built with the territorial andurban rehabilitation process and the land reclamation of old mined areas, consideringas a case study the Aguas Claras Mine.
