| Abstract: | A síndrome cólica é uma das enfermidades mais frequentes em equinos, sendo a compactação de intestino grosso a causa mais comum. O tratamento básico para as compactações consiste em fluidoterapia enteral, podendo estar associada ao uso de emolientes e fluidos intravenosos, e analgesia. O uso de fluido enteral para o tratamento de compactações é um método barato, de fácil administração e grande eficiência para o amolecimento e eliminação da massa compactada. O objetivo desta monografia foi realizar um estudo de 37 animais atendidos no Hospital Veterinário da UFMG que apresentavam compactação de intestino grosso e foram tratados com fluidoterapia enteral, associada ou não a emolientes e fluidoterapia intravenosa. O uso da fluidoterapia enteral demonstrou ser muito eficiente na resolução dos quadros de compactação apresentados por estes animais, sendo que 94,59% (35/37) dos animais receberam alta, 2,70% (1/37) dos animais foram encaminhados para cirurgia e apenas 2,70% (1/37) dos animais vieram a óbito. |
| Abstract: | Colic syndrome is one of the most frequent disease in equine, being the large intestine impaction the most common cause. Basic treatment for impactions consists in enteral fluid therapy that can be associated with the use of emolients and intravenous fluids and analgesia. The use of enteral fluids treatment of impactions is a non-expensive method, easy administration and great efficiency in softening and eliminating the impacted mass. The objective of this monograph was to study 37 animals treated in veterinary hospital of UFMG that presented large intestine impaction and were treated with enteral fluid therapy being associated or not to emolients and parenteral fluid therapy. The use of enteral fluid therapy showed to be very efficient in resolving the impactions cases presented by these animals, being that 94,59% (35/37) of the animals were discharged 2,70% (1/37) were referred for surgery and only 2,70% (1/37) came to death. |
