Perfil do discente do curso técnico de enfermagem de uma instituição do município de Teófilo Otoni - MG

Abstract

This is an descriptive-quantitative study with the aim of creating the profile of students of a technical degree in nursing at an institution from Teófilo Otoni, Minas Gerais. The study is part of the project Implementation Analysis, do CEFPEPE, 2008, aimed at evaluating the deployment and implementation of nursing pedagogical training. It was developed through Distance Education, in the places supported by the Open University of Brazil/Federal University of Minas Gerais. The study population is of 40 students, and the sample comprised 22 students who agreed to take part in the survey and signed an Informed Consent Form. The data was collected by means of semi-structured questionnaires. The results revealed that the majority of the students are female, single, under 30 years old, with up to 3 kids. With the support of the students reports, it was observed that physical fatigue was one of the aggravating factors in the completion of the course. Maternity was the area of most interest to the interviewees, even though some of them have experience in other areas. Just over half of the sample has any current professional experience, and the remaining work with health care. Some of them claim having no professional experience whatsoever. The interviewees expectations upon graduation have been positive, given that the students have shown interest in investing and acquiring professional qualification, combining technical knowledge with financial and social returns.
