| Title: | Prevalência de depressão em idosos no Brasil: uma revisão de literatura |

| Abstract: | O avanço do crescimento da população idosa, tanto nacionalmente, quanto internacionalmente, tornam os estudos sobre o envelhecimento humano altamente relevante. Com o aumento da idade, as chances dos indivíduos apresentarem problemas de saúde também aumentam. Entre as diferentes condições de adoecimento que podem afetar o idoso destaca-se a depressão. O objetivo desse estudo de revisão bibliográfica é analisar a prevalência de depressão em idosos inseridos em diferentes contextos no Brasil, seja em instituições de longa permanência para idosos, ou em hospitais e na comunidade. Foram selecionados para este estudo dez artigos em português, por meio de uma busca eletrônica. Os resultados mostraram que a depressão apresentou variada e elevada prevalência nos três contextos estudados. Desse modo, observou-se a importância de desenvolver outras pesquisas para subsidiar o planejamento de ações voltadas para assistência ao idoso. |
| Abstract: | The advanced growth of the elderly population, both nationally and internationally, make the study on aging highly relevant. With increasing age the chances of individuals presenting health problems also increase. Among the different health conditions that can affect the elderly, depression is the one that stands out the most. The aim of this bibliographic review is to analyze the prevalence of depression in the elderly inserted in different contexts in Brazil: long-term institutions, hospitals and community. For this study, there was a selection of ten articles in Portuguese through an electronic search. The results showed that the depression presented a varied and high prevalence in the three contexts studied. Thus, we observed the importance of developing other researches to support the planning of actions for assistance to the elderly. |
