Atendimento odontológico de bebês na Atenção Primária

Abstract

The aim of this study was to purpose a intervention based on a literature review, which auxiliates the organization of the dental treatment on children under three years old in primary attention, according to the principles of health promotion. It was used the bibliographic research by means of the access to the Virtual Library of Health (http://regional.bvsalud.org/php/index.php)in LILACS ( Latin-American and Caribbean Literature in Science of Health) database and SCIELO (Scientific Electronic Library Online). The descriptors used were: Oral Health, Children, Babies, Health Services, Dental Caries, Malocclusion. It was selected articles which were published in the following languages: Portuguese, English and Spanish; which are about the topic. The review was supplemented by thesis, books and official publications. Researches were made between November 2009 and September 2010.The study was contextualized in the history of oral health care models, since the incremental system to the present. A review of care practices with the incorporation of the family, expansion of care and access to oral health actions were consolidated after implementation of the Health Program Family followed by the insertion of the dental program through the inclusion of Oral Heath Teams Studies about the control of dental caries, such as and prevention of malocclusion, stressed the importance of family, care and information as ways of generating knowledge and changing attitudes. Effective measures for the control of dental caries should be initiated before the onset of the disease and the necessary information should be aggregated to support preventive and early diagnosis of children most likely to acquire these diseases. From this context it was constructed a intervention proposal for Basic Health Units supported on the following aspects: a) promotion of the oral health with public health actions such as babies care in primary attention, b) active attached customer search c) orientation to maternal-child health education aimed at changing behavior in relation to oral health d) monitoring and preventive interventions in eating habits and oral hygiene and e) assessment and intervention in oral habits, breastfeeding and its influence on malocclusion.
