| Abstract: | O presente trabalho é um estudo exploratório, que tem como objetivo investigar os significados das tatuagens em corpos de jovens homens, moradores de bairros populares, e a possível relação entre esses significados e a construção de identidades masculinas. Utilizou-se na coleta de dados duas fontes: a) dez entrevistas com jovens, homens, de 18 a 28 anos, moradores de bairros de classes populares de Belo Horizonte e Santa Luzia e; b) 63 fotografias de tatuagens dos jovens entrevistados. Com o propósito de compreender e analisar como são expressas as masculinidades desses jovens partiu-se dos significados atribuídos por eles às suas tatuagens e da análise das imagens, utilizando a Análise de Conteúdo, sendo as categorias temáticas consideradas à luz da Teoria da Identidade Social. Concluiu-se que, para os jovens entrevistados, ser um jovem homem tatuado, na sociedade que vivemos, com as idades que têm, com as condições sociais que possuem, tanto afirma, como pode apresentar novas possibilidades e expectativas para suas identidades masculinas, principalmente nos aspectos relacionados ao trabalho e à família. A tatuagem mostrou-se, portanto, como uma das possibilidades de dizer quem são, de discordar, resistir ou simplesmente ser livre para expressar na pele essas novas respostas, dizer o que pensam e o que desejam para o mundo em que vivem. |
| Abstract: | The present work is an exploratory study that aims to investigate the meanings of tattoos on ghetto young male's bodies, and the possible relationship between these meanings and the construction of masculine identities. Two sources were used on the information gathering: a) 10 interviews with youngsters, men, 18 to 28 years old, residents of poor neighborhoods of Belo Horizonte and Santa Luzia; b) 63 tattoos photographs of the youngsters interviewed. In order to understand and analyze how the masculinity of these young people are expressed, it started from the meanings attributed by them to their tattoos and from the images analysis, using the Content Analysis, being the thematic categories considered using the parameters of the Social Identity Theory. It was concluded for the young interviewed people that being a tattooed young man affirms and can present new possibilities and expectations for their masculine identities mainly in the aspects of work and family. That is even more evident if it is taken into account the society they come from or are inserted as well as their ages and social conditions. Tattooing has therefore proved one of the possibilities of saying who they are, of disagreeing, resisting or simply being free to express on the skin these new answers, to say what they think and what they want for the world they live. |
