| Abstract: | Esta dissertação propõe um exame histórico e filosófico do conceito de democracia, para compreender seus verdadeiros postulados e seu significado. Ao longo do texto, explora-se as variações e tensões simbólicas e axiológicas do termo ao longo do tempo, bem como os momentos históricos e políticos que estimularam experiências democráticas. Contando com o auxílio das artes para compreender melhor essas variações e tensões, as imagens surgem no trabalho ora como expressão, ora como crítica dos significados e percepções que são associados à democracia desde a Grécia Antiga até os nossos dias. |
| Abstract: | This dissertation proposes a historical and philosophical examination of the concept of "democracy", to understand its true postulates and its meaning. Throughout the text, we explore the symbolic and axiological variations and tensions of the term over time, as well as the historical and political moments which stimulated democratic experiences. With the help of the arts to better understand these variations and tensions, the images emerge in this study sometimes as an expression, sometimes as a critique of the meanings and perceptions that are associated with democracy from Ancient Greece to the present day. |
