| Abstract: | O presente trabalho tem como objetivo investigar as diversas apropriações da teoria de Carl Schmitt por parte de Sérgio Buarque de Holanda no processo de construção de Raízes do Brasil, isto é, nos projetos radicalmente distintos a que se referem as edições de 1936 e 1948. O ponto de partida consiste em uma abordagem panorâmica da teoria de Carl Schmitt, dando destaque ao antiliberalismo do autor enquanto uma constante em sua obra. Em seguida, o foco residirá nos escritos de juventude de Sérgio Buarque de Holanda, na busca de eventuais pontos de contato entre as teorias de Holanda e Schmitt. Posteriormente, as diferentes formas de apropriação de Schmitt por parte de Holanda na edição princeps de Raízes do Brasil serão investigadas, em especial a elaboração conceitual da cordialidade enquanto ocasionalismo subjetivista e a defesa de uma base de dominação fundada no carisma. Adiante, a análise é orientada para as modificações operadas na segunda edição de Raízes do Brasil, que conferiram à teoria schmittiana uma nova função no seio da narrativa, atrelada sobretudo a uma Teoria do Público. Por fim, propor-se-á uma reatualização da análise albergada pela edição princeps, a fim de estabelecer uma posição crítica diante das novas formas de relação entre Estado e sociedade, orientadas, sobretudo, pela noção de governança e pela implementação do chamado new public management. |
| Abstract: | The present work aims to investigate the various appropriations of Carl Schmitt's theory by Sérgio Buarque de Holanda in the conception of the radically different projects to which the 1936 and 1948 editions of Raízes do Brasil refer. The starting point is a panoramic approach of Carl Schmitt's theory, highlighting the author's antiliberalism as a constant in his work. Then the focus will reside in the writings of the Young Sérgio Buarque de Holanda, seeking the possible points of contact between the theories of Holanda and Schmitt. Afterwards, the many appropriations of Schmitts theory by Holanda concerning the first edition of Raízes do Brasil will be investigated, especially the conceptual elaboration of cordiality as subjectified occasionalism and the defense of the charismatic form of domination. Subsequently the analysis is oriented to the modifications made in the second edition of Raízes do Brasil, which conferred the Schmittian theory a new function within the narrative, especially related to a Theory of the Public. Finally, it will be proposed a reconstructive reading of the 1936 edition of that book, in order to establish a critical position regarding the new forms of relation between State and society, guided mainly by the notion of governance and the realization of the so-called new public management. |
