| Abstract: | Entre os séculos XI e XIII, a Reforma Gregoriana, iniciada pelo Papa Gregório VII, alterou o sistema político da Cristandade. Contra o universo ideológico do Império Carolíngio, a reforma fez da Igreja uma Monarquia Papal. Neste processo, a Igreja desenvolveu a doutrina da Supremacia Papal e transformou o Bispo de Roma na figura mais poderosa da Europa. O sucesso da Reforma Gregoriana influenciou a ascensão da cidade-Estado, o primeiro Estado Ocidental moderno. A tese da plenitudo potestatis foi o ancestral da idéia moderna de Soberania. |
| Abstract: | Between XI and XIII centuries, the Gregorian Reform, initiated by Pope Gregory VII, changed the political system of the Christedom. Against the ideological universe of Carolingian Empire, the reform made a Papal Monarchy from the Church. In this process, the Church developed the doctrine of Papal Supremacy and turned the Bishop of Rome into the most powerful figure of Europe. The Gregoriam Reforms success influenced the rise of renaissance city-state, the first Western modern state. The plenitudo potestatis thesis was the ancestor of modern idea of Sovereignty. |
