Abstract: | This study conducted an integrated analysis of the landscape of the area occupied by the Museum of Natural History and Botanical Garden of UFMG (MHNJB), through the compartmentalization of geoecological units, as a support to the development of educational activities focused on geodiversity in urban vegetated green areas. The study was carried out through the survey and compilation of several thematic maps, including topographical elements, vegetation cover, climate, morphology, use and occupation, soils, and its integration to the proposition of geoecological units. Later, a transect was demarcated between such units and the environmental relations that represent the landscape were discussed, in order to propose points of study and observation of the landscape (PIG's - Points of Geodiversity Interest). The results indicated to the existence of at least 4 units, representative of the natural physical conditions and the appropriation of the space occupied by the museum. These units reflect the typical landscape of the area of the municipality of Belo Horizonte and therefore represent an important resource to demonstrate relationships between elements of the physical environment altered by the growth of the city. In general, soil and vegetation cover were the main elements in the division of the units, which is why edaphic relationships between the two stand out. Moreover, it was observed that very subtle variations in geology and soils are important for the conditioning of different forms of relief, especially in the scale of the slope, which makes the space, seemingly homogeneous, even more geodiversity. |
