| Abstract: | No âmbito da educação, principalmente no que se refere ao ensino universitário, saber fazer uso da internet e de suas possibilidades é uma necessidade quase diária. Entretanto, há estudantes universitários, sobretudo aqueles provenientes de meios populares, que não sabem lidar com os recursos do computador e da internet, mas precisam, ao entrar na universidade, responder as demandas virtuais. O objetivo deste trabalho foi investigar que relação mantêm com o computador e a internet indivíduos de meios populares ingressantes em instituição de ensino superior que pressupõe alunos com letramento digital prévio (capazes de fazer uso da leitura e da escrita na tela). A Faculdade de Educação da UFMG foi o cenário do estudo. Procurou-se compreender que cultura digital vem se constituindo em seu espaço e de que forma o aluno calouro "infoexcluído" desenvolve estratégias para atender às demandas de uso da internet no mundo acadêmico. Para chegar às respostas dessas questões foi necessário fazer uma pesquisa de caráter longitudinal, num período de dois anos (2007/2008). Buscou-se, inicialmente, por meio de observações em diversos espaços da instituição, perceber qual é o discurso instituído na universidade e na Faculdade de Educação a respeito das novas tecnologias. Em seguida, procurou-se selecionar alunos de camadas populares mais desfavorecidas, que não possuíam computador/internet e que não sabiam fazer uso deles. Para isso, foi aplicado um questionário de caráter socioeconômico. A análise dos dados teve como ênfase a história da entrada dos sujeitos no mundo digital. Ela revelou particularidades do espaço em que a pesquisa se desenrolou, no que diz respeito ao desenvolvimento de um letramento digital local. Constatou-se que, embora haja na universidade certa naturalidade para tratar de assuntos ligados ao letramento digital prévio dos alunos, a cultura digital local é incipiente e reveladora de uma série de problemas e dificuldades. Os principais autores que nortearam esta pesquisa foram: Bernard Lahire e Pierre Bourdieu, pois, a partir de uma perspectiva sociológica, buscou-se compreender as atitudes dos sujeitos diante das demandas do mundo digital, ao ingressarem no ambiente acadêmico; Brian Street, David Barton e Shirley Heath, para discutir aspectos ligados às práticas e eventos de letramento em contextos locais; e Magda Soares e Carla Coscarelli, sobre o conceito de letramento digital. Este estudo também usa como fonte importante os resultados de pesquisas do Comitê Gestor da Internet no Brasil (CGI.br). |
| Abstract: | In the environment of Education, mainly in what refers to college education, knowing how to use the internet and its vast possibilities is a daily need. However there are college students, specially the ones who come from financially disadvantaged social layers, who do not know how to deal with computer resources neither with the internet resources and need immediately to get into university and respond to its virtual demands. The College of Education at UFMG, the location where this study took place, was also the scenery for the following questions: what digital culture has been evolving in its campus? How have the IT excluded novice students developed strategies to respond to the internet demands in the academic world? In order to answer these questions, it was necessary to do a research of longitudinal features, over a period of two years (2007/2008). At first, we wanted to find out what the instituted discourse in regards to the new technologies at the university and at the College of Education is. Secondly, we selected for the researchthe financially disadvantaged students, who do not have a computer or do not know how to use one. So that we could do this, we applied a questionnaire of social and financial features. The analysis of the data obtained had as its focus, the history of the entrance of the subjects in the digital world and presented some peculiarities of the environment where this research happened in regards to a local digital literacy process. We found out that although there is certain spontaneity in dealing with theissues related to the previous digital literacy of the students, the local digital culture is incipient and reveals a series of problems and difficulties. The main authors who guided us in this research were: Bernard Lahire and Pierre Bourdieu because we grounded ourselves on a sociological perspective to understand the behavior of the subjects before the demands of the digital world so that they could get into the academic world; Brian Street, David Barton and Shirley Heath helped us discuss the aspects related to the practices and literacy events inlocal contexts; Magda Soares and Carla Coscarelli backed us up with the concepts of digital literacy. This study has also as its theoretical support the results of the researches of the Committee of Management of the Internet in Brazil (CGI). |
