Sustentabilidade em espaços urbanos: estudo de caso da rua Aimee Semple McPherson em Belo Horizonte, MG

Abstract

The proposed work has the intent to analyses the involvement of the urban spaces in sustainable development aspects. For this, sustainability concepts that are applied to these spaces were used as basis. Thus, is presented a more comprehensive view about sustainable cities, as well as the mainline approach: cities made for people. Then, some current actions that are being presented by the government of Belo Horizonte has been taken into account. Later, the uses and controls of urban spaces in this city are also assimilated. Therefore, the context of the local, which is the focus in this study, is better defined. Subsequently, the applications of sustainability concepts were observed through different examples of used tools. These tools contain a number of factors that are used to analyze these spaces. Some different approaches about the composition of these spaces are also presented. In the next step the place that will serve as a case study is presented: Aimee Semple McPherson Street, Belo Horizonte, MG. Thus, a contextualization and characterization of this space is applied. A parallel with the analysis tools presented previously is kept for these surveys and observations. All these surveys served as the foundation to the next step, which are the proposed interventions in this street. Ultimately were presented the results and conclusions that reflect the importance of these urban spaces as well as the use of these analysis tools in encouraging a more sustainable behavior.
