Resumo
O objetivo desta dissertação é examinar a natureza das representações políticas divulgadas pela revista Alterosa entre os anos de 1962 e 1964, visando a compreender a posição da publicação mineira no contexto da crise institucional do governo João Goulart. Em especial, busca-se analisar como Alterosa periódico vinculado política e financeiramente ao governador de Minas Gerais, Magalhães Pinto se posicionou naquele cenário político em que Magalhães Pinto aparecia como um dos postulantes à sucessão presidencial de 1965, antes de se tornar um dos líderes civis do golpe em março de 1964. Para tanto, parte-se de uma narrativa sobre a trajetória da revista Alterosa desde sua criação em 1939 e da reforma que o periódico sofreu quando foi adquirido pelo grupo Magalhães Pinto em 1962. Em seguida são apresentadas algumas representações políticas veiculadas no periódico nos anos imediatamente anteriores ao golpe civil-militar com a intenção de perceber como o controle/influência (direto ou indireto) exercido por Magalhães Pinto sobre a revista Alterosa influiu no discurso político do periódico. Além disso, são analisadas fotorreportagens publicadas por Alterosa após o golpe e as representações criadas sobre Magalhães Pinto enquanto agente do movimento que depôs Goulart. Observou-se também, através da documentação da Editora Alterosa S. A., que naquele momento, Alterosa não garantia ganhos - nem financeiros, nem políticos - para o grupo detentor do Banco Nacional, o que provocou o seu fechamento às vésperas do Natal de 1964.
Abstract
The purpose of this dissertation is to examine the nature of political concepts disclosed by the Alterosa magazine between the years of 1962 and 1964, aimed at understanding the position of this publication from Minas Gerais in the context of the institutional crisis of the João Goulart government. In particular, it intends to analyze how Alterosa - a publication bound politically and financially to the governor of Minas Gerais, Magalhães Pinto - stood at the political landscape in which Magalhães Pinto appeared as one of the candidates to the presidential election in 1965, before becoming one of the civilian leaders of the coup in March 1964. To do so, one starts with a narrative about the history of Alterosa magazine since its inception in 1939 and the reform that the publication suffered when it was acquired by the Magalhães Pinto group in 1962. Next, there are some political representations conveyed in the newspaper in the years immediately preceding the civil-military coup with the intent of understanding how the control / influence (direct or indirect) exercised by Magalhães Pinto on the Alterosa magazine influenced it`s political discourse. Furthermore, this dissertation analyses photo-reportages published by Alterosa after the coup and the representations created about Magalhães Pinto as an agent of the movement that overthrow Goulart. Through the sources of the Alterosa S. A. Publisher, it was also observed that, at that context, Alterosa did not guarantee neither financial nor political gains for the National Bank owners. This factor leaded to the magazine shutdown, just before the Christmas of 1964.
