De migrantes a cidadãos do mundo: narrativas de vida de brasileiros no Continente Europeu

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to examine and compare in the light of French Discourse Analysis, three life stories - collected through interviews - that were produced by Brazilian migrants currently living in Europe (France, Portugal or England), so as to find out their discursive representations (of themselves, of the others, of the world). If the results, on the one hand, reveal the subjectivity of the individual that tells (himself) to the other - since each subject is unique as well as his story - there are, on the other hand, similar aspects among their life stories that point to a commom “enunciative place”: that of a migrant with the constraints it implies, above all, in this case, the fact that the three “storytellers” previously lived in another European country, which gives them a more critical understanding about the reality of life in Europe. Among the aspects that bring the three interviewees and their stories together, there is an adventurous bias in their motivation to migrate and a project of no definitive return to Brazil, at least in the short term.
