O problema da relação entre linguagem e mundo para os termos teóricos segundo teorias descritivo-funcionais da referência

Abstract

The objective of this work is the analysis of the problem of the way of establishing the reference of a class of terms belonging to the language of scientific theories: the class of theoretical terms. The solution to this problem, according to descriptive-functional theories of reference, is to be found in the interior of each scientific theory. A scientific theory by itself shows us how to determine the reference of its terms. The solution is then relative to each scientific theory. In this way, our problem reveals itself to be the problem of choosing among different scientific theories, turning out to be a matter of choice This is a pragmatic question to be solved not by semantics, but by pragmatics.
