Resumo
Food exposure to light result in oxidation. This study aimed to develop films as UV-light barrier using central composite design. Low density polyethylene films were incorporated with tinuvin and iron particles. Physicalmechanical properties (crystallinity, microstructure, mechanical resistance, color properties, thermal stability) and UV-light barrier were evaluated. Iron did no influence film's crystallinity; however, mechanical resistance was affected by iron. Microscopy analyses showed iron agglomeration on films surface. Films presented a maximum decomposition temperature (550.1 [+ or -] 8[degrees]C). Tinuvin and iron affected [L.sup.*], [a.sup.*], opacity and whiteness index. Only tinuvin had a significant effect on UV-light absorbed at 250, 3l0 and 360 nm wavelengths.
