Resumo
O tema desse artigo são as populações Tupi/tupiguarani que estão na Ilha de São Luís e arredores. O material cerâmico dos sítios analisados apresenta características gerais identificadas com a tradição Tupiguarani, como o uso do chamote como elemento associado à pasta, tratamento decorativo da superfície com cores e organização pictórica que definem o grupo; corpo da vasilha cerâmica com contorno sinuoso, algumas inflexões e carenas. No entanto, existem muitas diferenças que precisam ainda ser esclarecidas e melhor explicadas. O material aqui apresentado não se adequa a nenhuma das subdivisões internas utilizadas contemporaneamente, pois não se inscrevem em suas descrições.Partimos do material cerâmico dos sítios estudados na ilha, que observamos detidamente em uma análise inter e intra sítios. Posteriormente, relacionamos a eles o material de sítios conhecidos em São Luís e no continente imediato, marcando as diferentes expressões cerâmicas dessa arqueologia regional.
Abstract
The theme of this article is the Tupi/tupiguarani populations that are in the Island of São Luís and surroundings. The ceramic material of the analyzed sites presents general characteristics identified with the Tupiguarani tradition, such as the use of chamotte as an element associated to paste, decorative surface treatment with colors and pictorial organization that define the group; ceramic bowl body with sinuous contour, some inflections and corners. However, there are many differences that still need to be clarified and better explained. The material presented here does not fit into any of the classification categories used contemporaneously, as they do not fit into their descriptions.We start with the ceramic material of the sites studied on the island, which we observe in an inter and intra-site analysis. Later, we related to them the material of known sites in São Luís and in the immediate continent, marking the different ceramic expressions of this regional archeology.
