Perceber a paisagem: o jardim como lugar de afeto: uma vivência no bairro Jardim Canadá

Abstract

This research stems from the desire to investigate people's relationship with gardens—not public gardens, but private ones. This reflection is based on the gardens in the Jardim Canadá neighborhood of Nova Lima, Minas Gerais. It starts from the understanding that gardens are intimate places of preservation: small fragments of landscape that, in this study, are understood as spaces that favor coexistence, build confluences and establish relationships mediated by affection—whether with others, with the earth or with the living beings that live there. More than a historiographical approach to the landscape, the analysis was constructed through visits to the homes of neighborhood residents. Based on these conversations, I produce images and drawings, write stories, and make reflections based on contemporary theories about human relationships with nature, with the purpose of creating a perception of the landscape through the sensitive.
