Abstract

Generalization is a powerful tool in mathematical activity, and algebra is the language that expresses such generalization. To "learn this language" it is necessary to have something to say, but for that to happen, you need to realize some model or regularity, and then express it so that one could communicate to someone. It is important that teachers provide activities that enable the identification of regularities because these activities can contribute to the students acquisition of the ability to abstract relationships from given information and then express it.
