Abstract: | This study presents an intervention project that aimed to demythologize the condition of inferiority assigned to the blacks using afro-literary books for youth. The criterion for the choice of books used in the project, in the first place, was that they had black characters as protagonists and also developed a positive image of the blacks, in positions in society that were not only slaves or underlings, showing their artistic, scientific and creative competence; an image that was free of prejudice. The methodology used performed a prior discussion with the students on the representation of the blacks, and also the diversity, racism, prejudice and discrimination for them. Subsequently, a critical review and re-reading the book covers was produced. And finally, a new discussion with the students to verify the effectiveness of the work was made. The conclusion was that the work of the deconstruction of prejudice in general and, specifically the prejudice towards the blacks, will only be effective with the inclusion of the History of Africa and the African and Afro-Brazillian Culture in the curriculum in a continuous and interdisciplinary process. So, the students will have a better understanding of the formation of Brazilian people history, and Afro-Brazilians can build a positive self-image and recognize themselves as historical subjects. |
