Abstract: | This research presents analysis of the representations of gender in scientific and technical productions of authors tied to the socio-educative system for adolescent criminal offenders. The researched texts verify that attention to adolescents does not specifically address gender and there are few publications specifically regarding adolescent offenders. Besides published data on the process of adolescent care in socio-educational care units, the description and analysis show that, in these places, there is heteronormative reiteration. Homosexual relations are fought by employees; the socio-educated are less visited than adolescents and they are not given visitation from boyfriends, girlfriends, and spouses. Adolescent discipline in prison settings is made from a woman/man binary. It is necessary, therefore, to expand studies of gender for adolescents in order to also guarantee to them more humane imprisonment and take away from them the condition of invisibility and vulnerabilities to which they are exposed daily. |
