Resumen: Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is the most frequent cause of dementia, associated with a significant and progressive loss of both cognitive and functional performance [1].Microparticles (MPs) are microvesicles, ranging from 0.1 to 1 µm, released from the cell membrane during its activation and apoptosis. They are involved in cell-cell communication transferring cyto/nuclear proteins, DNA, mRNA and miRNA [2, 3]. Considering that MPs are involved in neuroinflammation and hemostasis, and that levels of several vascular and inflammatory factors were reported to be increased in patients with AD [4], we hypothesized that plasmatic MPs levels (platelet, leukocyte, endothe lial, neuron cell-derived MPs and MPs that express tissue factor [TF]) may be potential biomarkers to AD diagnosis.
