Abstract: | The Brazilian population is predominantly young and adolescentsconstitute a significant portion of this population group. Objective: To raise the literature theoretical basis to support a proposal for oral health education impactful for teens. Methodology: literature review searched in books and articles in periodicals found in the databases LILACS, BBO, MEDLINE using the keywords teenager, dental problems, susceptibility, health education. Results: It was found that guided education models in the teaching of scientific knowledge and transmission of behavioral rules result in little or no change in the habits of the students. Especially when these students are teenagers who often exhibit behaviors of dispute, rejection of rules and apathy. Recent studies show that to be learning with possible change in behavior, there must be an interaction between social representations (also called learn common sense) and scientific knowledge. Conclusions: educators should allow individuals to express their knowledge and share their experiences. For this, they must resort totechniques that facilitate the free expression with workshops and groupdynamics. |
